I have a friend that is a parkour runner … it is a great philosophy. You take whatever the environment throws at you and you rebound off it into a further flow of movement; nothing stops you, that is the idea.

I try to use this with my writing. When I was anchored to the house and had a fairly sedentary routine, I spent most of my time consuming media of various kinds, and there was less living done. Now the reverse is true, and I do a lot of living and a lot less writing. I still write more than most though, and maybe the quality improved from the extra living. One would hope so.

Life is better, and you don’t have to buy into the bullshit that art suffers if life betters … who put that lie out there? Some rip off artist seeking to convince creative folks that do their art to be good they have to suffer, while he makes a buck off then sweat from their brow.

I write whatever comes at me … I always have and I always shall.
