does the character of what i write depend upon where i am sitting typing this? ah, maybe – i don’t want to give too much significance to that, but it may have an effect.

i spend a fair amount of time writing these posts while i am in a cafe, in the time when a lot of the staff there are having their break. it also tends to be the point in the day when parents have picked up their kids from childcare and are walking home with them from work, so i get to hear kids playing and tired parents happy or angry about how the walk home is playing out.

if i have to return books to the library, and i have been reading a fair bit lately, then i get to the cafe later. i write out my poems first and then i go to what i think of as my commentary sites, and i write them in the car on the way to the church centre where i volunteer. this means a lot of my work is done on an Ipad.

on these weeknights where i get to it a little later i tend to be writing on my chromebook, so they get a little bit longer and more contemplative maybe … maybe a little less rushed. which is better and makes for the more insightful post? who knows? sometimes brevity is just the thing that the doctor ordered, and the insights i offer up are more penetrating; at least that’s what i believe, could all be bollocks of course,  but it is my own unique brand of bollocks, which you of course come here to read, and thank you for that.
