I had another great day yesterday talking to my mum. I got to be there when she wrote her tribute for my dad, with whom she would be celebrating her Ruby Wedding this year. It was interesting to see how quickly her thought process came to her when she was writing and I was touched by the sentiment, and impressed with the way she captured her feelings. How had I never seen how eloquent my mum was before?

These insights are very valuable to me. Learning more about my father from her stories of him is something I would not trade. Rekindling my friendship with my mother is great.

I have been writing lots of poetry the last week. Yeah, I know, how is that any different? But I have been particularly attentive to my facebook stream as a source of inspiration … some of the outlandish post titles and weird juxtapositions that get thrown up by having friends from so many different backgrounds makes for fertile ground in which to look for prompts.

Having fun as usual – drawing from a number of different sources and mashing it all together. A wonderful gumbo.
