Of course it is really early into the Nanowrimo – day one to be precise, but the first thought I am getting as to the soundtrack these novels would have is that Pad Elephant which is kind of slow and depressing is going to start off very Tindersticks and move towards Flaming Lips, while Agrypnotic is going to be more Manic Street Preachers, travelling via Aphex Twin,  through Joy Division and maybe ending up somewhere between late Birthday Party early Bad Seeds.

So, is any of it vaguely happy? No, but it might get there. Pad Elephant’s early emergent structure hints at a redemptive story framework for the two main characters. Agrypnotic I am afraid to say, initially suggest a hugely bleak plunge off a cliff into a whirling maelstrom primal scream of feedback and whitenoise.

Of course all of this could change. I am writing this after spending most of the week at work with little air conditioning, and now my air conditioning is playing up at home, and I have sugar ants (which are not sweet, and actually nip at you).
