It’s been something of an insane week out in the world – it is, yet again a hard one to make sense of – something a lot of people are trying to do, resulting in a lot of badly added up sums. Is there a duty to write about it all? Sure, but as the insanity quotient shoots through the ceiling, how do you arrive at a cogent line on the whole thing? Satire seems the only appropriate response; or metaphor; or poetry. How else to handle it except with an oblique approach?

I don’t need to enumerate the different insanities because we have all been bombarded with them on a daily basis. I am choosing in a lot of places to  write positive things; to be creative; to write things that inspire people; to try and out-create the perceived misery that they wish us to believe predominates in what remains, and shall remain, a magical world.

Poetry month means more than CISPA.

Art means more than terror.

There is a magic in us that can pull the rug out from under anything negative and non-survival.
